Keiretsu Forum, the world’s largest angel investment network, today announces the launch of its Entrepreneur Academy – providing first class course offerings for start-up entrepreneurs taught by seasoned and successful executives on the critical elements of a company’s business plan.

“One of the key components to raising money is having a solid business plan,” said David Dembitz, Keiretsu Forum Silicon Valley member that is heading the initiative. “Unfortunately, many start-up companies lack in resources which are typically found and highlighted by shrewd investors.”

The Entrepreneur Academy will feature eight courses: (1) CEO’s Roles and Responsibilities, (2) The Deal – Understanding Terms and Conditions and Financing Options, (3) Protecting Intellectual Property, (4) Human Resources – Employment Laws and Tax Issues, (5) Accounting – Setting Up Books and Financial Projections, (6) Sales and Marketing, (7) Exit Strategies, and (8) The Pitch.

“Providing education and resources to the entrepreneurial community is as important as providing capital,” said Randy Williams, Founder & CEO of Keiretsu Forum. “In 2004 we launched our Academy for Angel Investors, which has proven to be a great benefit to the Keiretsu Forum membership. We are proud to expand the program and launch the Entrepreneur Academy.”

The first two courses are scheduled from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, May 5th on the topic “CEO’s Roles & Responsibilities” and on Wednesday, May 13th on the topic “The Deal – Understanding Terms and Conditions and Financing Options” at Fenwick & West, LLP located at Silicon Valley Center, 801 California Street, Mountain View, California.

The first course, “CEO’s Roles & Responsibilities” will cover: (1) Leadership, (2) Dealing with the Board of Directors, (3) Communicating with stockholders, (4) Organization structure and strategic thrust, and (5) Self assessment – building upon your strengths and addressing your weaknesses. This course will be co-instructed by successful entrepreneurs and members of Keiretsu Forum Silicon Valley – David and Cathy Light. By attending this course entrepreneurs will have a better understanding of the key critical success factors CEOs need to possess in this difficult market environment.

The second course, “The Deal – Understanding Terms and Conditions and Financing Options” will cover: (1) Definition of terms in the term sheet, (2) Basic elements of the term sheet, (3) Funding alternatives – Pros and Cons, (4) Negotiable items, and (5) When to sign and when to walk away. This course will be co-instructed by Tammi Smorynski, Intel Capital and Kenneth Clark, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, two outstanding executives with different perspectives from their industries. By attending this course, the entrepreneurs will get a wealth of knowledge in understanding and negotiating a term sheet that is a win for all parties.
